Feeding America Info.

In order to help further explain my road trip, I figured it was necessary to explain Feeding America a bit more. Here are a few tidbits to who they are, what they do, and how they do it.

Feeding America is at the forefront in leading the relief of Americans that suffer from hunger. In 2008, Feeding America used to be known as America's Second Harvest: The Nation's Food Bank Network. In order to really convey what the mission of the America's Second Harvest was, they decided to change their name. The new name, Feeding America, is meant to say that Feeding America will be directly providing food for people that find themselves in need.

Through a series of over 200 nationwide sponsored food banks, Feeding America is able to provide relief to over 37 million Americans that are in food insecured homes, this number includes over 14 million children and 3 million senior citizens.

In order to provide for the 37 million + that are hungry, Feeding America secures food by working with large corporations to secure donations of food and groceries to distribute to their sponsored food banks.

98% of all donations that Feeding America receives goes directly to benefit the food banks that they are supporting.
